I wander but sometime I think I can go no further.
One step though inevitably begets another
Where next I know not, but I am carried along in this pace,
a metronome in my body:
Trit trot trit trot
Am I going or coming to a known or a forgotten spot;
are the nights round or are they straight?
A little breathless, time for air Pant ah pant ah
Once a follower, then a leader… sometimes somewhere in between, chasing both ends it would rather seem.
Ggr rah ggr rah!
A little gallop and there, at last, beyond a standard bound,
the magnificent light rising, its unyielding force, inspiring me to sing:
Oooo hhhoooo!
Reposing in the shadows, too tired to reflect, it seems the air is colder and I give my head a shake.
Flllph puff
Asleep now my breath slow, flanks as the (even) tide, ebb and flow
It is time
And I must go.
